Based in Costa Rica, our group integrates microbiology, genomics, metabolomics and natural products chemistry for the study of actinomycetes and their specialised metabolism.

Parra attended the Fourth International Conference on Microbial Secondary Metabolites organised by Center for Microbial Secondary Metabolites (CeMiSt) at the DTU Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine in Helsingør, Denmark.

Melissa attended the Natural Products in the 21st Century conference. She presented her work on endophytic actinomycetes for the control of fungal diseases in rice crops.

We received a visit from Dr Fernanda Claverias from CB-DAL / Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María as part of a collaboration with Professor Beatriz Cámara. Fernanda received a travel grant from UNU-BIOLAC to complete an internship in our laboratory.

Mariana represented our group at the 4th Latin American Congress on Microbial Ecology, ISMELAT2025, held in Mexico. She presented the progress of her thesis project on actinomycetes isolated from beach sand and their putative role in controlling fungi that affect turtle eggs.
