Based in Costa Rica, our group integrates microbiology, genomics, metabolomics and natural products chemistry for the study of actinomycetes and their specialised metabolism.
Douglas participated in the theoretical-practical course ‘Metabolomics in Food Science: From Food Resources to Industrial Processing and Food Intake’, coordinated by Dr Mónica Cala from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, in collaboration with The Metabolomics Innovation Center (TMIC) in Canada.
Parra participated in the 20th International Symposium on the Biology of Actinomycetes that took place in Egmond aan Zee, the Netherlands.
Our group organised the first Costa Rican symposium on metabolomics. The event seeks to bring together people from academia and government working on topics related to metabolomics. The event was a success and aims to be the first step toward consolidating the Costa Rican metabolomics network.
